More recently I've been the main electronics repair service for Boss Guitars first in Ann Arbor, and since Boss moved to Detroit. Doing repairs for Boss was pretty interesting; dealing with the sort of obscure vintage gear which turned up is much different than just retubing Fender and Marshall amps all day. For instance, it's probably been 20-30 years since anybody would work on combo organs (Vox, Farfisa) on aregular basis, but Boss sometimes moved 2 or 3 in a month. As of 2004 I'm not doing much directly for Boss, but I still get a lot of word-of-mouth from former customers.
I also do Hammond organs and Leslie speakers. I even came up with a special solid-state motor control box for a friend who happens to be a great jazz organ player. Originally it was just to provide a "stopped" switch position for the rotating Leslie horns, but it ended up providing a way to make sure the horns always stopped in the same place by using digital logic and Hall Effect sensors.
Other odd stuff includes the occasional rarity like the Philco Predicta television I repaired for Eric at Boss Guitars, or the "Uncle Duke" guitar amp which started life as a Dukane PA head.
There's no special contact for Furhead; just email me or give me a call at (734) 604-9340.
